Rotary Biography of

ED. R. JOHNSON,

Roanoke, Virginia, U.S.A.

President, Rotary International, 1935-36.

Mr. Ed. R. Johnson is a Director of the Norfolk and Western Railway Company and an officer of numerous other business and financial institutions in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born in Aurora, Illinois, and was educated at the Allegheny Institute in Roanoke, and at Purdue University .

Mr. Johnson has been a member of the Rotary Club of Roanoke since 1920 and is a Past President of that Club. He has served .Rotary International as President (in 1935-36), Vice-President, Director, District Governor, and as committee chairman and member. He is an honorary member of the Rotary Clubs of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Salem, Virginia; and Williamson Road (Roanoke), Virginia.

He has served as Administrator for the Roanoke City War Price and Rationing Board, Vice-President of the Virginia War Fund, Director of the Roanoke Chapter of the American Red Cross, and as Vice-President of the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce and the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce. He is an officer of the Legion of Honor of France.
