SIDNEY B. MC MICHAEL Governor 27th District, Rotary
International, 1925;-26. Chairman Canadian Advisory
Committee 1928-29. Born 1873 - deceased July 3rd, 1959. Sid did a good job as Governor
and Chairman of the Canadian Advisory Committee but the job he will be
remembered in Rotary for was his Chairmanship of the Host at Club Convention
Committee in 1924. That was Toronto convention year. Sid also was Chairman
in 1942 at Toronto's second Rotary convention but his great contribution was
in 1924. He established the House of
Friendship which has been a convention feature ever since and he set up the
plan for the Rotary International Convention that was adopted and has been
in use ever since with only slight variations, as may be necessary to suit
the times and the convention city. On the opposite page [above]
the full committee is shown and if the Toronto Club can find such a body
of Rotarians within its membership for the Host Club Committee in 1964, it
will be fortunate indeed. Sid left a fine record in the
Rotary Club of Toronto, in the District, and in Rotary International. J.A.C.
