Past Presidents of Rotary International

Rotary's Golden Anniversary, June 1955

PAST PRESIDENTS OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

on the platform at the International Convention in Chicago, Illinois June 1955. Herb. Taylor was President for the year 1954-1955 and in the group we have A. Z. Baker of Cleveland who took over from Herb on July 1st. Really, therefore, these two could not be classed as Past Presidents on June 2nd, 1955. This was the great 50th Anniversary of Rotary International. This made 23 Past Presidents and one current and one President-elect.

Front row-left to right -

Allen Albert, 1915-1916. Pete Snedecor, 1920-1921. Crawford McCullough, 1921-1922. Guy Gundaker, 1923-1924. Everett Hill, 1924-1925. Herb Taylor, 1954-1955. A. Z. Baker, 1955-1956. Don Adams, 1925-1926. Tom Sutton, 1928-1929. Al Roth, 1930-1931. Clinton Anderson, 1932 - 1933. Bob Hill, 1934 - 1935.

Standing - left to right

Ed. Johnson, 1935-1936. Maurice Duperrey , 1937-1938. Geo. Hager, 1938-1939. Walter Head, 1939 - 1940. Ferdie Carbajal, 1942 - 1943. Charlie Wheeler, 1943- 1944. Dick Hedke, 1946-1947. Ken Guernsey, 1947 - 1948. Angus Mitchell, 1948 - 1949. Percy Hodgson, 1949 - 1950. Frank Spain, 1951 - 1952. Bru Brunnier, 1952 - 1953. Joaquin Serratosa Cibils, 1953 - 1954.

The missing; but still with us, were: Harry Rogers, 1926-1927; Tom Warren, 1945-1946; Arthur Lagueux, 1950-1951.

Since June 2nd, 1955, however, Harry Rogers and Arthur Lagueux have gone.

Of those who attended the anniversary convention, Bob Hill has gone.

It is not likely that the remaining (24) will ever be together again but it was great to see on one platform, 25 men who had or would serve as President of Rotary International.

By and large, Rotarians have chosen their leaders wisely.

J.A.C.

May 4th, 1958.
