Rotary Biography of T. A. WARREN Bournemouth, England. President, Rotary International, 1945-46. T. A. Warren was Director of Education for Wolverhampton, England, for 25 years until his retirement in 1945. He was born in Manchester, England, was initially trained for business, and later engaged in educational work in Plymouth and Manchester, prior to his Wolverhampton appointment. He now resides in Bournemouth, England. Mr. Warren has been a Rotarian since 1923. He is an honorary member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton, and is now'a member of the Rotary Club of Bournemouth. He has served Rotary International as President (1945-46), Vice-President, Director, District Representative, chairman and member of numerous Rotary committees, and as Trustee of the Rotary Foundation. He has also served as President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland. Mr. Warren served as a member of the British Government Committee on Private Schools, the Executive Board of the Association of Education Committees of Great Britain, and the National (British) Youth Committee and the Youth Advisory Committee. He is a former Chairman of the Wolverhampton Boy Scouts' Association; he founded the Wolverhampton Children's Camp; and he inaugurated the town's system of Civic Restaurants and School Canteens which, durirg World War II, fed 13,000 daily. In 1941, Mr. Warren inaugurated the Wolverhampton Air Training Corps for youths preparing for early entry into the R. A. F. He was a member of the British Home Secretary's Advisory Committee upon Delinquent Children and gave evidence before the commission whose findings resulted in a Children's and Young Persons' Act which changed the national approach to the wayward child. . In recognition of his public service, the following titles have been conferred upon him: Commander of the Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.), King George V Jubilee Medal, and King George VI Coronation Medal. He has traveled extensively in Austria, Belgium, Cuba, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Yugoslavia. He has made numerous trips to North America, visiting most of the states of the U.S.A. and most of the provinces of Canada. From Rotary International, 35 East Wacker Drive, Chicago 1, Ill., U.S.A. March 1954. Joseph A. Caulder Remembers T. A. WARREN Tom Warren, President of R. 1. 1945-1946 lived in Bournemouth, England. It is a fine little city with one of the world's finest beaches. We visited Tom and Ginger at their home in 1949. Tom had spent his life in Education Administration in England but up in beautiful, cold Yorkshire. Few Presidents of R.I.B.I. and R.I. have rendered finer service than Tom Warren. I will never forget the hot spot he was in at Atlantic City in 1946 when he presided over the Convention session when the "Move to Denver" was discussed. Had Tom Warren not been a capable and experienced Chairman who knew his "Rules of Procedure", this session could easily have gotten out of hand. He again presided in a most capable manner at the "Council on Legislation" at Mexico City in 1952. Tom did not let the Rotarians of the British Isles down. J.A.C.
