RICHARD E. VERNOR

Treasurer, Rotary International, 1953-54

Richard.E. Vernor is Manager of the Fire Prevention Department of the Western Actuarial Bureau in Chicago, Illinois, supervising the work of the fire prevention associations in 20 midwestern states. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and was graduated from Albion. (Michigan) College.

Mr. Vernor has been a member of the Rotary Club of Chicago since 1927 and is a Past President of that Club. He has served Rotary International as Director, District Governor and as committee chairman and member. Since 1946, he has been Treasurer of Rotary International.

He is Chairman of the Board and Past President of the National Fire Protection Association, Chairman of the Fire Department Instructors Conference, Past President and Director of the Greater Chicago Safety Council, member of the Executive Committee of the National Fire Waste Council of the United States Chamber of Commerce, member-at-large of the National Council of Boy Scouts of America, and is a former Trustee of Albion College. In World War I, he served as an officer in the United States Army.
