KENNETH G. (KEN) PARTRIDGE. Port Credit, Ont. Director Rotary International 1954-1956 Background - Ken was born in Brampton, Ontario. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and of Osgoode Hall Law School. He practised Law in Brampton from graduation in 1936 until 1945, except for the War years, when he served as a member of the Security Service of Canada under the jurisdiction of the Canadian Department of Justice. From 1945 on, he maintained offices in both Brampton and Port Credit, eventually severing his connection with Brampton in order to devote his entire time to the practice of Law in Port Credit. He is presently a member of the law firm of Jackson, Partridge & Van Every, Box 590, Port Credit, Ontario, and he and his wife, Marguerite reside at 1206 Mona Road, Port Credit, Ontario. Rotary Activities and Achievements - Became a member of the Rotary Club of Brampton in 1940. Served in every major office of the Brampton Club, including the offices of Treasurer, Secretary, Chairman of the Program Committee (for 3 years), Director, Vice-President and President, 1948-9. Became a member of the Rotary Club of Port Credit in December, 1951. Has served the Port Credit Club as a Director and Chairman of the Program Committee. Served as District Governor of District 247 in the Rotary year 1951-2. During his term of office: (a) Nine new Rotary clubs were organized within the District; (b) The District produced the largest net gain in gift subscriptions to the two editions of Rotary's magazine of any District in the Englishspeaking world. Is presently a member of four Rotary International Committees: 1. Constitution & By-laws Committee (a 3 year appointment). 2. Rotary Institute Agenda Committee (a 2 year appointment). 3. Canadian Advisory Committee. 4. Cornerstone Laying Committee - a special committee to make plans for the laying of the cornerstone of Rotary's new headquarters building in Evanston, Ill. Classification - Senior Active. Former Classification - General Law Practice. More Activities and Achievements - Each year since Ken was chosen District Governor, he has been one of the leaders at the International Assembly held at Lake Placid, New York, where for several days, incoming District Governors receive their training prior to taking office. Ken has attended six Rotary International Conventions and in the case of both Mexico (1952) Convention and the Paris (1953) Convention, he has held positions of responsibility. He has spoken at many Rotary gatherings, both within and without his own District. Amongst other engagements, he has had a part in the program of five Conferences of districts other than his own. Apart from Rotary, Ken has served his community in a number of ways. He is a former member of the Brampton Town Council and the Board of Governors of Peel Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the Port Credit Business Men's Association, a trustee of First United Church, Port Credit, and a member of the Board of College and Secondary Schools of the United Church of Canada. Finally, he is a member of the Peel County Law Association and the Canadian Bar Association. [Additional Caulder Note, as in Original Album] KENNETH G. PARTRIDGE passed away on November 11th, 1958 after fifteen days in the S. Peel Hospital suffering from a Coronary Thrombosis and Angina Pectoris. He left a great void in Rotary International, The United Church of Canada and in his legal profession.
From Rotary International 1600 Ridge Avenue Evanston, Illinois 60201, U.S.A. EDWIN K. FORD, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada Third Vice-President, Rotary International, 1963-64 Edwin K. Ford is a retired teacher who began his career in Saskatchewan following his graduation from the Nova Scotia Normal College. He is a graduate also of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and attended Columbia University in New York, New York. At the time of his retirement he was Director of Vocational Education of the Department of Education of Nova Scotia, Canada. He lives in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and serves as an editorial writer for several newspapers of the province. A Rotarian since 1936, he is a former member of the Rotary Clubs of Truro and Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is a past president of the Rotary Club of Halifax. He is now a member of the Rotary Club of Yarmouth, and has served Rotary International as director, district governor and committee member. For 1963-64, he is third vice-president of Rotary International. Mr. Ford is the author of a book on vocational guidance and a contributor to magazines in that field. His report on technical and vocational education in Iraq is in the library of the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University and in United Nations and UNESCO libraries. He is a past president of the John Howard Society of Nova Scotia, an organization for the rehabilitation of released prisoners, and holds the title of honorary president. During World War II, he participated in the Foremanship Training program in war industries and toured the Canadian west as a lecturer on Canadian unity for the War Information Board. July, 1963
